SCÂNTEIA
Scânteia is an independent, non-profit cultural center run by Romanian artists Dani Ghercă and Roxana Morar. Dedicated to fostering contemporary art, it serves as a dynamic platform for production, exhibition, and public engagement.
The center operates through two interconnected spaces:
Atelierele Scânteia – A coworkspace hosting 15 individual artist studios, where emerging and established artists explore diverse mediums, from painting and sculpture to photography and sound.
Scânteia+ – A Kunsthalle-type space designed for ambitious, large-scale exhibitions, pushing the boundaries of contemporary visual culture.
Launched in 2023 with its studio program and expanded in 2024 with the exhibition space, Scânteia is gradually transforming Casa Presei Libere into Bucharest’s most significant contemporary art destination. Beyond exhibitions, the center cultivates a vibrant artistic ecosystem—where visitors can encounter new ideas, engage directly with creators, and experience live performances.
Looking ahead, Scânteia aspires to become a cultural landmark—a place where art thrives, minds meet, and the city’s creative pulse beats strongest.
